Switchback’s secret strength is its commitment to team. Steven has had the privilege to give leadership to this growing innovative team since 2010. Previous to Switchback, Steve operated a successful counselling / consulting private practice on Vancouver Island, Canada for 21 years.
KAREN L. FALK
Chief Operating Officer
Karen has been Switchback’s COO since its inception and has been managing and developing business systems since 1992. She directs the day to day operations. Karen and Steve have been operating in team both in marriage and business since 1985.
PAUL M. VERMES
Paul has 25 years of experience in the areas of coaching, mentoring, and leadership development. He has worked with educators, international leaders, first nation’s communities and families. Paul believes people can change. His passion is seeing the corporate world advanced through the personal transformation of their employees. He is captivating and highly engaging.
KEN B. FALK
Ken joined Switchback after a successful 27 year career as an educator. His expertise as an educator is evident both on the stage and in private consultation. Ken entertains audiences with his dramatic personal stories and life experience and is also involved in the course content review process.
Alex is from Victoria, Canada and has over 30 yrs of experience in an advisory / consulting role with business professionals. He has owned 3 businesses & is a great motivational speaker. Alex has a passion to help & see people succeed. He always finds time to mentor & has been a promoter of Switchback’s belief that people can change.
FANNY Y. VERMES
Fanny has 15 years experience as a certified critical care nurse and educator with a high value for excellence and detail. Her passion for identifying, and building people’s capacity for leadership success as individuals and as teams, is evident through her work in values based leadership. Fanny aims high, believing every individual has the potential to lead and the capacity to positively influence any environment.
RICHARD A. J. JANZEN
Rick’s background in education in the classroom and as an administrator is a tremendous asset to his work within Switchback. He is bi-vocational and when not on the road or actively teaching Rick can be found as a ski instructor, fishing guide or in his own passions of art, reading and hunting/fishing.
Dale has had the privilege to be a key leader in the development of aquaculture in British Columbia. From this depth of experience as a leader in one of BC’s premiere salmon farming companies Dale’s role in Switchback is both as a trainer/consultant and as an in-house leadership mentor. Dale’s love for people and for everything outdoors is an inspiration to many.
Joyce has been a spiritual advisor within the UN and a number of European Embassies along with 20 + years of counselling. She has been involved in many community and political boards, has worked in corporate sales and in real estate. She also lectures internationally and is an accomplished artist.
DEREK R. BIRD
Derek’s 16 years of teaching experience, in both college and high school, have provided him with a strong foundation to communicate the key concepts that make Switchback unique and life changing. He is also the founding editor and columnist for Canada’s largest fly fishing magazine. His passion and enthusiasm for life is evident in his writing and in his inspiring presentation style.
BARRY D. FALK
Barry is bi-vocational and since 1987 has been a minister on Vancouver Island, Canada. Barry brings with him a deep understanding of the human condition and practical compassion for people. As a professional speaker and singer / songwriter / playwright Barry’s stage presence is captivating, invigorating and personable.
